It was during the construction of the Pescara-Ancona railway line that Ugo Borghetti created the original recipe in 1860.
Ancona, 1860. Ugo Borghetti, owner of the Caffè Sport bar in the Station square, created a special coffee liqueur to revive and boost the energy of all those at work on the great engineering feat: the Pescara-Ancona railway line. The birth of a myth: Caffè Borghetti was launched.

An unmistakable logo of great impact. A red and gold label depicting a striking woman of Mediterranean beauty.
The blend of coffee and alcohol was further refined with the Arabica and Robusta qualities. The product was officially bottled and distributed by Ugo Borghetti’s bar to all other venues in Italy. The red star on its label became a national icon.
